56 Out of Gauge Modules from Altona, VIC to Darwin Airport, NTBack to all work
Our client had a specific budget and a three-day delivery timeline to ensure that the modules were installed in sequence and met building restrictions.
We used Lean Thinking to identify the risks, timelines and scheduling required to ensure flat rate costs from the storage facility to under hook, including demurrages. By establishing a “final mile” lay down yard we were able to guarantee delivery times and allow the client to perform additional work prior to final installation at a significantly reduced cost.
This type of project would normally have five contractual agreements in place to cover the origin, movement and destination legs, increasing the risk of overruns on each leg of change. LIFT ensured “event management” processes were followed which allowed the use of the same LIFT equipment and personnel from the start of the project to final module delivery. This meant training and knowledge was the same to ensure all scenarios were covered and sufficiently prepared for.
The client saved significantly on their budget for the mobilisation to Darwin and all modules were delivered ready to install under hook on time and with no damages.
This approach was so successful that we used it to move 96 Out of Gauge Modules from O’Connor to 621-623 Wellington Street, Perth.
